The Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching (MACT) is designed for teachers who are committed to achieving accomplished teaching of school subjects to diverse learners. The program emphasizes practice-centered inquiry and teacher leadership in the classroom, school, community and profession.
The Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) has been developed for educators who want a greater understanding of how to use cutting edge technology to improve teaching and learning. This program is especially suited for classroom teachers, technology coordinators, and media/library specialists at all grade levels.
The Master of Arts in Educational Administration (MAEAD)prepares educators for school leadership and management positions in K-12 schools. Students in this program develop the knowledge and skills – instructional, managerial, political, social and ethical –- needed to be an effective educational leader.
An online Master of Arts degree in Education is available for educators interested in 24/7 access. Students participating in the online program may develop one or two concentrations that focus on selected areas, including: special education, technology and learning, K-12 school and postsecondary leadership, literacy education, and science and mathematics education. This online program is not designed to provide State of Michigan endorsement nor teacher certification.

Certificate in Educational Assessment For Practitioners
A unique opportunity for educators who want to learn more about student assessment has been created by Michigan State University. The College of Education will begin a three-course sequence (nine semester hours) for practitioners that will lead to a Certificate in Educational Assessment. These courses will help educators better understand the educational assessments they administer and use. The courses are designed for educators with a minimum of statistical or technical background, and will stress the understanding of key measurement concepts situated in practical settings.
The three courses included in the Certificate are as follows:
CEP 823 Balanced Assessment Systems
This course provides an overview of summative assessments (at the national, state, and local levels), interim benchmark assessments, and classroom-based assessments.
(Offered Fall 08, Mondays 4-7 pm)
CEP 825 Educational Assessments and Testing Programs
This course provides a more intense coverage of large-scale assessment programs at the national and state levels. It will also present information about interim benchmark assessments that may be used at the district and school levels. (Offered Spring 09)
CEP 837 Analyzing, Using, and Reporting Assessment Results
This course gives hands-on experience in analyzing the results from national, state and commercial tests to determine trends in student learning and to determine weaknesses shown by the exams. Software designed to facilitate the analysis and use of assessment results will be reviewed. Using these analyses and the data to determine how schools can improve student learning, and report results to a variety of audiences, will also be presented.
